Nishimoto Trading Co.

So I think this is the website for the company that makes delicious Japanese soda that I had in Japan at Epcot in Disneyworld. But anyhow, this site is so clean! It is very simple but I like it a lot. Very clean, simple, organized, and the color scheme is great. It seems like it is from a template or something, but it isn't terrible.

Coca-Cola

I figured since this is a drink we are designing for, I should look at the world's biggest drink company. Coke! I love Coke, but their site is like Pepsi quality, it's got some good stuff, and I'll take it if its all you got, but its not great. The main part of the home page is the scrolling photos at the top, but as you can see it doesn't work well. Let me just list my complaints; The nav is weird and way too empty in the middle, the slideshow has like a 20 second glitch in between the photos, their is a weird empty area on the right and bottom left of the body, and the logos at the bottom are not centered. Its several rookie mistakes that I would make, not Coca Cola. And what the heck is with the footer? What are the conversation/carrot boxes pointing towards. Their is no need at all for the carrots at the top of those buttons. Its just weak, disappointingly weak.

Florida State Gators Aid

This is the home page for the almighty Gatorade. This company is so big that Blogger spell check even has Gatorade in it; and the website shows that. I think it is very strong. It is designed perfectly for the market. The site is clean, but very bold and powerful. Notice the slightly serif fonts to add more weight, but it isn't too much. Simple navigation, large powerful photo slideshow to draw attention and then just the necessary information, in a clean and sleek layout.  No real complaints here. Well done.

5-Hour Energy

This is the website for 5-Hour Energy, and as you can tell, it is marketing the exact opposite type of person as the Monster site. This one is white and pure, clean, skinny, and my informational. I don't like that the about page is the home page, but it isn't terrible. It is too wordy for a home page but it is clean. However it just seems to be lacking a visual spark to keep me interested. I just does not keep my attention very well.  The simple nav is okay, but again nothing of note. Just decent, I would expect more from such a well advertised company.

Monster Energy

Since this is an energy drink company we are making a website for I figured I should check out the competition. This is Monster's website and I think it is the best of any drink site I have look at. The site is designed perfectly for the market they attract. It is hard edged, intents, dark, and gritty. I love the logo and simple navigation, and the sub-navigation at the bottom of the page is perfect to keep the home page nice and organized. There is a lot of information, but it is put together and organized very well. Also, the gritty background image in the wrapper is fantastic. Great site.

Unique wedding photography site

I like this set up. Its very unique. Throughout the site the is no real navigation bar, which i am not usually a fan of, but here it still works. There is just a menu button on the side, which brings out the navigation options; something you normally see on mobile sites. On the home page the little symbols are the buttons, and the site has a nice fluid transition instead of just popping into the sub-pages, which is a nice change. Overall i think its pretty successful. The picture slideshows are very responsive and fluid and the hidden navigation is a unique change. "Deleted Space Creative" is the designer of this site.

Catch seafood website

I love this design. I've always been a huge fan of the "power photo", and this site is perfect for that. The simple, san-serif text on each image and the humorous continuity makes this site extremely successful to me. The nav is simple, but strong, and the link organization is... well organized. And now i reeeally need some seafood, which means this site did its job.

David Barton Gym

I love this. Its such a unique spin on the average gym website. It's like a bad ass gym for punks. So much negative space, plus the hardcore background, plus the iron and riveted text boxes all work so well together. The links need to be rearranged to be a bit more visually appealing, but overall it is a great, unique idea.

Mavric website

This is a great web design. A powerful image draws you in, and the well-organized links allow you to find whatever you are looking for on the site. Plus the use of large links and minimal text make the home page flow very nicely. Well done.

Tatte Bakery site

Beautiful web design. It is so simple, yet very elegant and precise. A simple header with a huge emphasis on the food and the shop, which is what a bakery should emphasize. It is fluid and organized very well... and it makes me hungry.

Emmy website

Not the best web page layout. Way too much information on the home page. My attention is totally lost by the time i get to the bottom of the page. Needs to be better organized.  I understand that it is a news/celeb website but it should still be able to keep my interest and the home page should be much less cluttered

Drybar website

Very interactive web design. Almost futuristic in the way the links and slices move when you hover over them. Also a good, modern color scheme and great use of space. I've never seen anything like it really.  Its all pictures and symbols, yet i know what is going on.  There is now need for words in web design if the design is strong enough, and here it definitely is.

Model's Website

very unique web design. The most noticeable feature is the way the site scrolls. The background and foreground scroll up and down, but the photo of Michelle stays in the same spot. Very interesting, but also somewhat confusing to the eye. Good? Bad? I'm not quite sure.  I do like the way the information is layed out though.  Its very bubbly and sexy which is, i think, what the designer was going for. Cool idea.  No idea how it could be done.  But its cool.

Speaker website

The use of big, dramatic photos and clean sleek text makes this design very stylish and young. I love it, to be quite honest. Plus, the lack of color actually adds to the sharpness of the design. Also the seamless divs with the slight white gradients are in perfect use here. Very well done.

Cavalier

This is a strange one, but its good? maybe? The navigation and secondary nav are confusing because the main nav is split up. I love all the elements in the bottom half because they are oddly sized but they still all geometrically fit together, but are they links or buttons or are they just for looks? I certainly can't tell.

Wedding dress website

Really creative website layout. Love the multiple tiles that create one big image, but are all different links. A nice, unique, modern twist to a wedding dress website. Easy on the eye, and very easy to navigate. It is a great way to draw in a younger, modern audience.

Lomo website

A fairly decent web design. I think to is definitely attracting the right audience with a modern, and informative layout. But, the layout is a bit wordy for a home page. A little too much paragraphing and text for my liking. However, the font choice and diagonal lines are very modern and attractive.

Simple and Sleek. The name of the game

Another simple, but beautiful webpage. Showcases the photographers artwork in a stylish and sleek way. A simple drop down, a simple photo, and a powerful statement makes a brilliant website.Plus, the strange diagonal line and the banner are very unique, but it's definitely not bad.  I like it!

Example of KISS

This design is great. If you have a company that promotes web and game design you need to have a well-designed website, and this company does. Simple and fairly common, but its sleek and organized, while still giving the main information needed. After all, KISS is a rule to live by in web design, right? This site puts that rule into good practice here.

Gold's gym cluttered website

I really am not a fan of this one. It is very cluttered and messy. Their is no direction or visual guidance whatsoever. I immediately got lost and did not know were to look. After you take a second to breath, the navigation is good and the way the logo extends past the web site border is great and unique, but the good is hidden behind the sites clutter and awful photos.

Modern photo based design

This is a great site. The definition of positive and negative space in the photos, and the website are great. It is very modern and “cool.” It really pulls you in with its navigation and its great powerful design. Very well done.

Magpie Food chalkboard design

I love this design! Its very unique, but so effective. The blackboard background and the chalk-like handwritten font is perfect. I love the lacey logo and the placement of the navigation bar and the secondary nav actually works pretty well here. Then, the photo of the pie tells how delicious their food is. Nice site.  The on thing i do not like is the different sized fonts and different placement of the text in the navigation. The nav should be uniform.
